Generation Receives Two Anthem Awards

Generation has won two 2024 Anthem Awards in the category of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

The Anthem Awards honor the purpose and mission-driven work of people, companies, and organizations worldwide. This year’s winners were selected from a pool of over 2,000 submissions from 44 countries. Anthem judges are diverse leaders from the impact industry with expertise that spans diverse cause areas. The judging panel included: Heather Dowdy, Director of Product Accessibility, Netflix; Alex Amouyel, President & CEO, Newman’s Own Foundation; Noel Kinder, Chief Sustainability Officer, Nike; Christina Lang, Vice President of North American Marketing, Mozilla; and more.

Announced on January 30th, 2024, by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, Generation has been recognized for the research report “Launching a Tech Hiring Revolution”, which received a silver prize in Research Projects or Publications, and the global communications campaign “Get the Facts on Skills-Based Hiring”, to support the report launch, which  received bronze in Campaign – Non-Profit. The research and campaign were supported by The Hg Foundation and Bank of America, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, and MetLife Foundation.

“Employment changes lives, and tech roles remain an important pathway for many to achieve economic mobility for themselves and their families,”  said Jennifer Sikes, Chief Communications Officer, Generation. “Our research and the related campaign underscore the opportunity employers have to improve the way they hire for entry-level tech roles, opening up those pathways to a broader pool of talent. We are honored to have our work recognized, and grateful to the Anthem Awards for bringing attention to so many important projects and campaigns from this past year.”

Launching a Tech Hiring Revolution is a research report on entry-level tech talent, based on a global survey of more than 2,600 jobseekers, 1,275 jobholders, and 1,325 tech and non-tech employers, across eight countries. It lays out challenges faced by employers and job seekers alike, and concrete steps employers can take to adopt skills-based hiring practices and increase diversity of their tech talent. Launched in mid-2023, the report has sparked continued conversation around skills-based hiring.

The related communications campaign, Get the Facts on Global Skills-Based Hiring, combined an organic social media strategy based on data storytelling, and a media outreach plan to promote the report launch. The campaign’s videos, social media activation, thought leadership, and earned media, helped drive visibility of the report and promoted conversations on barriers to equal access to employment.

“The Anthem Awards were born out of the desire to amplify and celebrate the voices that are creating sustainable change and to inspire others to take action,” said Patricia McLoughlin, Anthem Awards General Manager. “In a year where so much is at stake, it is incredibly important to recognize impact work and celebrate the progress happening globally. Congratulations to all of this year’s Winners.”
