Mona Mourshed, Global CEO Of Generation, Is Named An “Advocate For Aging”
Next Avenue and the American Society on Aging celebrated Mourshed as one of 8 leaders who are redefining what it means to grow older in 2024
Generation global CEO Mona Mourshed has been recognized as a 2024 Advocate for Aging by Next Avenue, the nonprofit digital journalism publication for older adults. She is being recognized for her work in the education and workforce space that has focused on supporting midcareer and older workers.
Since 2015, the “Advocates for Aging” annual list has recognized researchers, thought leaders, writers, educators, experts, and everyday people who are breaking new ground on challenges and opportunities for those aged 50+. The annual list is chosen by Next Avenue’s editors along with public nominations. In 2024, and for the first time, Next Avenue partnered with the American Society on Aging (ASA) for the selection process as an opportunity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of ASA.
Under Mourshed’s leadership, Generation has published research about midcareer and older workers that has spotlighted deep-seated ageism biases in hiring, including The Midcareer Opportunity (2023) and Meeting the Midcareer Moment (2021). In conversation with Next Avenue, she spotlighted the risk that these biases could deepen as the labor market transitions into the use of artificial intelligence, and the need to ensure midcareer and older workers have access to training and employment support to navigate these changes. Generation supports adults of all ages to achieve economic mobility, and more than 3,600 individuals over the age of 40 have completed our courses to date.
