What is Opportunity Employment?
Across the country, employers in all sectors face the challenge of finding and retaining excellent talent. At the same time, millions of opportunity youth are unemployed, underemployed, or disconnected from workforce and education opportunities. Opportunity Employment is a series of scalable practices that help employers recruit and retain opportunity youth with a focus on return on investment.
With the support of the Rockefeller Foundation, Generation launched its first Opportunity Employment pilot with Nando’s Peri-Peri Chicken, an international casual dining restaurant group. After interviewing employees about their experience working at Nando’s, including strengths and opportunities for improvement, Generation designed targeted interventions for employee recruitment, training, and retention.
