Technical Requirements by Program

Please view the programs below to verify your computer will meet all technical requirements.

This program requires participants to have a laptop, Chromebook, or iPad that meets the following requirements:

  • Operating Systems
    • Chrome 97 and 98
    • Firefox 96 and 97 (Extended Releases are not supported*)
    • Safari 14 and 15 (macOS only)

These programs require participants to have a laptop that meets the following requirements:

  • Minimum Hardware Requirements
    • At least 8 GB of RAM
    • x86_64 processor (not ARM, not the new Mac M1 processors)
    • VT-x or AMD-V extensions
    • Webcam
    • Headset desirable
  • Operating Systems
    • Windows 10/11, macOS or Linux (not ChromeOS)

These programs require participants to have a laptop that meets the following requirements:

  • Minimum Hardware Requirements
    • 2 Ghz Dual core processor
    • 4 Gb RAM (system memory)
    • 25 Gb free disk space
    • VGA capable of 1024×768 screen resolution
  • Operating Systems
    • OS X Mojave or Higher
    • Windows 7 (with .NET Framework 4.5.2), 8.0, 8.1 and 10 (32-bit and 64-bit) or Higher
    • Linux (Debian): Ubuntu Desktop 14.04, Debian 7
    • Linux (Red Hat): Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, CentOS 7, Fedora 23

This program requires participants to have a laptop or Chromebook with a working camera.

  • Minimum Hardware Requirements
    • 1.6 GHz or faster processor speed
    • 1 GB of RAM
    • Free Disk Space 1GB or more
  • Operating Systems
    • OS X Yosemite or Higher
    • Windows 7 (with .NET Framework 4.wr)
    • Linux (Debian): Ubuntu Desktop 14.04, Debian 7
    • Linux (Red Hat): Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, CentOS 7, Fedora 23

This program requires participants to have a laptop (not a Chromebook) and a phone with a camera.

This program requires participants to have a laptop or Chromebook that meets the requirements for TestOut software. To check if your computer meets the requirements, please follow the instructions below:

  • Minimum Hardware Requirements
    • 2.4 GHz or higher processor speed
    • 4 GB of RAM
    • Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 Processor
    • Internet Bandwidth of 3.6 Mbps per user
  • Operating Systems
    • 64-Bit Windows US
    • Any Intel-Based Mac OS
    • Any Linux OS
    • Chrome OS (Chromebook only)
  • Internet Browsers
    • Google Chrome 35+
    • Firefox 42+
    • Safari 8+ (Mac)
    • Edge 20+

    • OSX Yosemite 10.10 or higher

    • Linux (Red Hat): Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, CentOS 7, Fedora 23

How to check your computer's specifications

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Click “System and Security” and then click “System”
  3. You will see something like the screenshot below. This shows your operating system (Windows 10 Enterprise in the screenshot), processor speed (2.8 GhZ), RAM (24 GB), intel Core processor version (i7), and whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.

  4. To see available storage, open the File Explorer. Click on “This PC.” Your available storage will show up under “Devices and Drives” (379 GB in the screenshot below)

  1. Click the Apple icon and select “About this Mac” on the drop down menu
  2. You will see something like the screenshot below. This shows your operating system (e.g. macOS Mojave version 10.14.4), processor speed (2.7 GhZ), RAM (16 GB – see “Memory”), and intel Core processor version (i7)

  3. To see available storage, click the storage tab. To free up storage, you can delete your cache, files you no longer need, or applications you do not use.
