WHAT IS VIRTUAL CAREER COACHING?
Virtual career coaching sessions provide students and alumni with one-on-one professional career coaching assistance, connecting you to industry experts and human resources professionals. The sessions focus on three areas: resume/cover letter building, interviewing skills, and general career advice. Discussions are held on GenConnect, our online alumni community space, through video conferencing, making it easy for alumni to participate with a smartphone or any video-enabled device.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE A VIRTUAL CAREER COACHING SESSION
Option 1: Fill Out an Interest Form
Complete our Virtual Career Coaching interest form. Be prepared to give us your contact and program information. Once submitted, one of our coaches will be in touch with you.
Option 2: Select Your Virtual Coach & Request a Meeting
- Log onto GenConnect.
- Go to “Explore the Community”
- Click on “More Filters”
- Select “Virtual Career Coach Advisor” under Help Topics.
- Select an Advisor
- Select “Let’s Connect” on their page.
- Type a short message and select “Request A Meeting”.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE FOR THIS SESSION?
Send your resume and cover letter to your Virtual Career Coach via GenConnect, unless it is posted on your GenConnect profile. Be sure to add your session to your calendar to ensure you log into the session on time.
In order to participate, you will need a smartphone or video-enabled device, thirty minutes of your time to complete the session, and two minutes to respond to a survey after your session is complete.
