What is Generation?
Generation is a global non-profit organization with a mission of transforming education to employment systems to provide a meaningful career and sustained well-person for every person. How do we do that? By preparing, placing, and supporting individuals into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Is there a cost to participate in programs?
No! Our programs are completely free for participants. We’re a non-profit organization, meaning we are dedicated to training and educating individuals, matching them to potential outcomes after graduation. Our program is delivered at no cost to our participants because of the generous support of philanthropic organizations and individuals.
What kinds of programs are offered?
Generation USA offers a variety of different programs depending on your location. You can see a complete list of programs here.
How do I apply to Generation USA?

How do we prepare learners for the workforce or continuing education?
While you are learning technical skills, instructors are also teaching you soft skills, proven to help you succeed in any role, or to continue your education. Our support team and mentors are available to help you prepare for your next steps after graduation and provide resources and support for common barriers individuals face such as transportation and child care.
What happens after I submit my application?
After your application is submitted, you will be notified whether you meet the eligibility criteria to participate. Depending on the program and location, there may be additional steps to enroll in the program.
How long after submitting my application will I wait before receiving an admissions decision?
Applicant wait time for an admissions decision is typically one week. Be sure to add firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com as a trusted sender to the email you provided when applying so it does not go into your spam or junk folder.
What kind of questions are included in the application assessment?

Can I start the application process and return at a later time? How?
You can return to the application here using the registered email address and password.
Who can I contact for technical issues with my application or application questions?
On any of the application stages, you can click on the “Ask Us” button to contact our admissions team. Alternatively, you can also directly email firstname.lastname@example.org.
What are learning outcomes? Can I choose or switch tracks?
Learning outcomes are options after graduation. Available outcomes vary by city, program, and cohort. Learners may have the opportunity to choose an outcome, based on his/her previous experience and availability of outcomes. Once an outcome is chosen, the learner will have to work with his/her career coach to determine whether or not the opportunity to switch outcomes is available.
What does it mean if I am waitlisted?
If you receive a “waitlist” decision, the current cohorts for the program you applied for are filled and you will be considered for the next round of cohorts. We offer several cohorts per year for each program.
Do you run background checks on applicants?
For most programs, we do not run background checks on any applicants. For some Rising Talent programs, you will be required to complete a background check. Some employers may choose to do so with your consent.
How long will it take to complete the entire application process?
We estimate it will take about 2 hours total to complete all of the stages. Remember, the entire application does not have to be completed at one time. You can always save and come back at a later date.
Why do I need to complete a "Support Questionnaire"? Why is it important to answer honestly?
The Support Questionnaire allows us to better serve you. By understanding what your needs are during our program, we can help you be successful. We do not use this information when considering your acceptance into a program. Answering honestly helps us to direct you toward the support you’ll need to be successful.
Will an applicant be rejected from "Support Questionnaire" responses?
No. We do not use your answers on this questionnaire to accept or reject applicants. Your needs are completely independent of the acceptance decision.
Am I guaranteed a full-time job or internship after I graduate?
When you join a Generation program, our staff works with you to identify the next best steps for you after graduating. That could be seeking full-time employment, an internship, apprenticeship, or continuing your education. No matter which path you’re on, we help by exploring these options with you, working on your resume and interview techniques, and connecting you with Generation employer partners.
Does Generation offer any support after I graduate?
Generation doesn’t stop supporting our students upon graduation. Instead, you become a Generation USA alumni for life. Learn more about our Alumni Services here.
Can I participate in a Generation program if I also work?
At Generation, we understand that you may need to work in order to support yourself or your family while attending one of our programs. Some of our programs are restricted to individuals who are only unemployed or underemployed (working less than 40 hours) while others are more flexible. In either scenario, we do require that you are available during class hours for live instruction.

How will I be notified if class is cancelled?
Can I switch my program track option if I've already started my program?
Once an outcome is chosen, you will have to work with your career coach to determine whether or not the opportunity to switch outcomes is available.
How can I request additional academic or social support after I've started my program?
As a current student, our learner support team is available to help you with various resources. Talk with your instructor for further academic support or reach out to your mentor or the learner support team for help with all other matters such as health and wellness, mental health, financial literacy, childcare services, and transportation.

How can I request program completion verification?
Complete our contact form, choosing the “I would like to submit a Program Completion Verification request” option. Our alumni team will reach out to you with the verification or if additional information is needed.
What types of benefits am I eligible for as a Generation USA alum?
As a graduate of a Generation program, you are an alum for life! We offer various services and support to our graduates based on status. Learn more here.

What do I do if I forgot my GenConnect login information?

If I become unemployed as a Generation USA alum, are there services I can access to help find new employment?
